Too bad about the beach experience. As a rule of thumb, bigger cities on the Adriatic coast such as Zadar, Split, Rijeka or Šibenik are not ideal for a day on the beach, even locals would go a bit further out to enjoy the sun and sea, most often to a nearby Island.
